Civil War Discharge ~ 179th Pennsylvania Drafted Militia

A Civil War Eagle Masthead Discharge for Private Orrin Barnard of Hubbell's Company, 179th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry (Nine Months - Drafted Militia). Barnard was born in New York, and was a blacksmith when drafted.  Signed by CAPT. GEORGE W. HUBBLE as shown. This discharge is printed on lighter weight, rag content paper than is normally encountered. Completely filled out in period ink. Information on reverse of document is shown on right scan. CONDITION: Has been folded. Several tears and a few holes. Other normal signs of age. (#2887)
 
NOTES: Hubbell's Company, 179th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry (Drafted Militia).  Organized at Philadelphia and Harrisburg October 23 to December 6, 1862. Ordered to Fortress Monroe, Va., December, 1862. Attached to Busteed's Independent Brigade, 4th Corps, Dept. of Virginia, to April, 1863. West's Independent Brigade, 4th Corps, to June, 1863. King's Independent Brigade, 4th Corps, to July, 1863. 2nd Brigade, King's Division, 22nd Corps, to July, 1863.
